Making Butter

There is nothing more delicious than homemade butter and surprisingly it is pretty simple to make. We tend to take for granted the ease of being able to go to the store and pick up a brick.

We spent some time with our BeKids and they became BeMakers of Butter!

Here is a simple recipe that you can try at home!

-Fill a jar half-way with heavy cream.

-Pop the lid on, and start shaking.

-When the sloshing sounds stop, remove the lid, and check for whipped cream!

-Pop the lid back on, and continue to shake until the mixture separates into buttermilk and butter.

-Remove lump of butter (save the buttermilk for baking).

Yup....it really is that simple!

Get your kids to try it at home!

Some of our programs use expensive materials and cannot be substituted with cheaper alternatives. As it is, these fees are then put onto the parents, some too high for parents to afford. To make our programs available to all children we ask for your support to lower the cost of our programs.

Thank you.
